Scott Kennedy killed this big buck
opening day of 2008 Youth week.
Warren Kennedy submitted the picture and
told us the following story.
"A friend told us
about a large buck he had seen right at
dark while he was bowhunting. This buck
entered the large field a long way off
and ran all the other deer out of the
field. On the first afternoon of the
youth hunt, 11/15/08, we set up in a
ground shooting house near where the
buck had entered the field. Scott had
decided to wait until late on this
buck. He might shoot a doe if we were
down to the last couple of minutes.
Patience paid off, as this buck was a
couple of minutes behind a doe and
yearling. At 5:15 PM, Scott said,
"There he is!". He repositioned his
window shooting bag to get his rifle on
the buck. The buck dropped instantly at
110 yards as the Ruger .308 Compact came
through once again. This buck weighed
230 lbs, has 19 1/2 inch main beams and
a 16 inch spread. He is a five point
with no brow tines. The hunt took place
in western Hinds County. By the way,
Scott is ten this year."
CONGRATULATIONS,
SCOTT!!
