Ronny Thompson, from Hattiesburg. MS  killed this deer on a bow hunt in Pike County, Illinois on October 29, 2007.  Ronny told the Bragging Post, "The deer came out right at dark about 250 yards away and when he got to about 150 yards, I decided that if I didn't do some thing quick, I would not get a chance. So, I began to hit my Knight and Hale E-Z grunter hard.  After a few seconds the deer began to come my way, but then he turned around, so I grunted again and he came straight in.  I took the shot at 17 yards quartering to me.  He ran off about 50 yards stopped and just walked away.  I was worried that I may have missed, but when I checked my arrow I knew that he was dead.  I  recovered him  about 250 yards from where I shot him.  I was very excited. This was not a guided hunt.  Deer weighed 263 pounds and scored 171 5/8."
