This deer was killed in Madison, Ms on 12/17/07 by Justin Malouf of
Greenwood. He has 24 scorable pts and comes in at 206 7/8 non-typical.
The monster buck was scored as a main frame 6pt with 18 abnormal pts
with a 12 2/8 inch inside spread. His bases at the skull were 9
inches. Justin told the Bragging Post, "I hunted this deer for 22
days and on the day before I killed him, 12/16/07, I finally saw him,
but he did not present me with the shot I wanted, so I just watched him
disappear into the tall grass thinking that I would never see him
again. Little did I know I was less than 36 hours away from killing the
buck of a life time. The very next afternoon at five o'clock as the
woods settled down for nightfall, I hit my grunt call, then my can. As I
looked behind me in the lanes that I had cut the prior Sunday, he
stepped out at 275 yards and was walking straight at me. As I thought
to myself, 'is he going to get away again' he just kept coming. All I
could think about was the day before when he just disappeared into the
grass. I told myself, 'if he just turns a little I'm going to try him'
and as he turned to go in the grass at about 250 yards. I just
squeezed my trigger and he disappeared. I thought, 'Oh, no! I missed'.
So, I climbed down and walked down the lane and there was no sign of
him. When I got to the end of the lane I stopped, got my light out of
my bag, turned in disappointment back to the truck, and that's when I
found my first blood. He ran about 150 yards."
This trophy won Justin the Men's firearm, non typical,
trophy at the 2008 MS Wildlife Extravaganza with a new B&C score of
195.875. CONGRATULATIONS, JUSTIN!!!
