Brad Thibodaux hunts at Montgomery Farms H/C in Edwards, MS in Hinds
County. He shot this deer in January, 2007 during primitive weapon
season with his 45/70 caliber rifle on a Wednesday afternoon and told The
Bragging Post the following story, "We tracked blood for 3 hours that
night and 2 hours the next day and couldn't find the deer. Saturday
AM I was hunting a different stand in the same vicinity and heard dogs
barking and growling and water splashing in the creek behind me. I eased
along the creek and two black labs ran away. I saw something in the creek
that looked white and red in color. Put my scope on the object and it was
the rear end of a deer laying in the water and it was still alive. The
dogs had been eating on his rear. I put it out of it's misery and called
for help to retrieve it. It had 9 points, 5 inch bases and good mass and
weighed 200#'s. The inside spread was 15 1/4 inches and didn't meet the
club rules of 18 inches and I paid a $500 fine. It's amazing that this
deer was still alive after being hit in the right shoulder with a 325
grain bullet."
